What is it about?
Thymectomy via video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) has become a preferred method for thymoma in Hospital 103-Ha Noi-Vietnam. Data about thymoma in Vietnamese and the benefits of VATS thymectomy in this cohort of patients are still limited. Fifty-three patients underwent VATS thymectomy in Hospital 103, Vietnam from 10/2013 to 7/2017. Despite the small sample size, our initial favorable results reconfirmed the safety and benefits of VATS thymectomy in Vietnamese patients.
Why is it important?
Thoracoscopic thymectomy for thymoma in Vietnamese patients offered better cosmesis. It was also found to be safe for both non-MG and MG patients.
