What is it about?

Sedentary behavior can be problematic to one's health. It is important that all people engage in regular physical activity, especially older adults.

Why is it important?

National physical activity guidelines suggest that adults across the lifespan engage in at least 150 minutes of physical activity each week. Because older adults are more likely to be sedentary, finding out what motivates older adults to engage in regular physical activity is critical for overall good health.

Perspectives

Writing this article was a great pleasure to me because it was my very own research data. The participants of the study were a very lively and delightful group of older African American women who did not mind sharing their experiences related to facilitators and barriers to engaging in regular physical activity.
