The voice of the beside RN is often missing from the research into the concept of patient safety. For my research, I wanted to ask these RNs - those who are closest to the patient - their thoughts about patient safety, particularly for adult patients in the hospital setting. The data led to what could possibly open the door to a greater understanding of why all of our efforts into keeping our hospitalized patients safer is not paying off to the extent we expect (and hope).
