What is it about?
The focus is on how the human mind in everyday life and in social science is able to make sense of time and temporal processes by constructing concepts of principles and goals in the form of cultural models of different kinds which frame as well as guide and direct thinking, communication and action.

Why is it important?
Through a reconstruction of a forgotten piece of historical conceptual background, light is shed on prevalent confusions in contemporary social and critical theory and encouragement provided to improve the conceptual infrastructure of thinking.
Perspectives
This essay forms part of my endeavour over the past few decades to contribute to the creation of a new version of cognitive sociology which could not only benefit cultural analysis but also fill a gap and critical theory. It relates immediately to a range of writings published in the past decade as well as some forthcoming items.
