Why is it important?

The concept reconciles the concept of performativity as developed by Michel Callon with institutional theory and addresses the institutional critics of performativity

This publication is my own contribution to what some have called the "performativity wars," that is, the long-running debates as to whether markets are best explained by studying the fields and networks in them, or by attending to their material tools. I argue that both are necessary, and explain exactly how ("performative work")
