Why is it important?

Healthy eating practices are a proven effective strategy for glycemic control in individuals with diabetes. Some African American men with diabetes struggle with healthy eating practices. Effective strategies aimed at healthy eating in this population could slow the progression and prevent diabetes-related complications for African American men with diabetes.

Perspectives

The evidence provided in this article is important for an underrepresented and under-studied population, African American men. Identifying barriers and strategies for diabetes control in this population is an important step in eliminating or reducing the disparities for diabetes- health outcomes for African American compared to other men
