Why is it important?
ba and bei constructions are very important in Mandarin. Their acquisition concerns resarchers, educators and learners of Chinese. Our paper approach them from an aspectual perspective. By examining child data and adult input, the reader will gain a better understanding of how the two constructions are used by native speakers and how they are acqired by Mandarin-speaking children step by step.
Perspectives
From constructing the multimedia corpus, releasing it on CHILDES, to writing up this paper and revising it three times based on reviewers' comments, we have spent 4 years on this project. I think the research findings are revealing and the analysis makes contribution to the linguistic theory and acquisition theory.
