What is it about?

The histo-political, the socio-demographic and the cultural reasons for high risk aversion in peace operations have been analysed. The Slovenian public opinion survey show a strong risk aversion in peace operations therefore the purpose of the article is: 1) how can be strong risk aversion explained by selected dimensions; 2) what part of the population is most risk aversive. The uncertainty, ageing society, peace syndrom, economic crisis all influence the perception and acceptance of risk.

Why is it important?

For years the public opinion surveys showed opposition to high risk operations and during the past few years even the support for peace operations in general has been in decline. This analysis partially explain the social reasons behind such public determination.
