This article addresses questions of rigor in using qualitative research methods and procedures. At the same time, it provides an overview of how to conduct qualitative research. It covers philosophical underpinning, use of scholarly literature, data collection and analysis strategies, as well as strategies for enhancing the trustworthiness of findings.

Why is it important?

Qualitative inquiry is particularly useful in studying people and cultures because it allows a researcher to delve deeply into a rich understanding of their lives. Further, unlike quantitative research methods, it allows researchers to discover things the no one knew existed.
