They are works that relate to the broader notion of Christian mission. This article surveys several United Methodist scholars of evangelism and points to their contributions in the broader field of missiology.

Why is it important?

Evangelism texts are becoming more interested in providing a holistic approach to sharing the faith. This article points out that United Methodist scholars have been moving in this holistic direction for decades, providing a broader view of mission as they addressed evangelism.

Perspectives

I appreciated the opportunity to move through all the critical UM texts in evangelism, watching how the authors developed and forged their views of evangelism and mission over the years. In doing it, we who are early 21st century United Methodists can trace how we have come to think about evangelism as we do.
