What is it about?
Study examined the impact noncredit enrollments in community colleges have on calculations of college costs. Many community colleges offer a range of noncredit courses and those enrollments are not reported to the U.S. Department of Education in IPEDS. Spending for these courses is reported. This results in overestimates of spending in community colleges.

Why is it important?
Standard calculations of spending in community colleges are not accurate. Community colleges are underfunded to an even greater extent than typically reported.
