Why is it important?

No study of this nature exists in Nigeria, where transnational alcohol companies are increasing their marketing strategies. My findings show that social events sponsorship creates conditions that influence drinking and contributes to the growing alcohol-related problems in Nigeria.

Perspectives

This is topical, in that Nigeria, as a part of the emerging markets of Africa does not have effective policies to control alcohol marketing.
