What is it about?
The evidential BE SAID TO construction is a borrowing from Latin, which does not make orthodox grammaticalization theory the ideal framework for the description of its development. Type and token frequency changes and the distribution of the construction in different genres ARE of interest in diachronic construction grammar, however.
