What is it about?
This is the story of how the sexological research questionnaire evolved as a product of assertive homosexual men and their autobiographical sexual histories coming into contact with the earliest sexual scientists in Germany.

Why is it important?
Why is historical study ever important? Our evaluations of the past, inform the present. In the specific case of nineteenth century sexology and homosexuality: teasing out the origins of sexual identities helps us better understand the value and nature of these identities today.
Perspectives
My research resets the historical record to restore agency to homosexuals in C19th century Germany. I hope to show that the project of sexual science was, at least at first, a collaboration/collision between these assertive sexual minorities and the world of science.
