Why is it important?

The contemporary economy is closely related to the dynamics of capital flows. For foreign entrants, they need to explore domestic market via an accumulated domestic network in order to adapt to brand-new environments. Thus, it raises a critical issue about where to allocate their capital. The positions of different places in domestic capital market then become so significant to accomplish a smooth adaption.

Perspectives

In our humble perspectives, analyzing cities' positions in networks constructed by heterogeneous flows has become more and more important to understand the conceptualization of 'space' in urban dynamics. The convergence of distance-dependent factor analysis and distance-free network analysis is a meaningful departure to complement classic urban growth models.
