We analysed the factors that disrupt the healthy eating habits of the elderly in a suburban city centre.

Why is it important?
Our finding indicated that weak ties with family and the local community had a strong effect on a large proportion of the nutritionally depleted elderly residents in Japanese food desert.
Perspectives
Writing this article was a great pleasure as it has co-authors with whom I have had long standing collaborations. This article also lead to rare disease groups contacting me and ultimately to a greater involvement in rare disease research.
