What is it about?
It compares two different parts of the leave system, the ear-marked, non-transferable father's quota and the shared, family based leave. Fathers have the right to both these types of leave, but they only use the ear-marked one. The paper asks why fathers do not take more leave when they have the statutory right to do so. By means of the theoretical concept "sense of entitlement" the article finds a strong sense of entitlement to the father's quota, but at most, a tentative and ambivalent sense of entitlement to the shared parental leave. The general societal norms constitute shared leave as primarily mothers' entitlement.
