What is it about?
This research describes a new intelligence test that I have developed. The article describes how the new test is reliable (that it measures the same thing consistently) and that it is valid (that it does in fact measure intelligence). The new test is administrated in PowerPoint and the file can be downloaded for free from my website.

Why is it important?
Intelligence is a very important aspect of human psychology. However, tests to measure intelligence are usually very expensive and take a long time to administer, usually over one hour. They are also usually in English. The new intelligence test that I developed is free to use (anybody can simply download the file from my website- www.gpluck.co.uk), it is quick to administer (only about 10 minutes), and it is language-free. This new test will be particularly useful for people who wish to perform research studies without research funding or where commercial intelligence tests are not available or appropriate.
Perspectives
I have worked and conducted research in several countries and I've noticed how difficult it is for researchers in developing countries. Often professionals or students wish to perform simple psychological studies, but can't access the basic tools, such as intelligence tests. One of the big problems is that the many cognitive tests are only available in the world's most common languages, and are usually very expensive. This is why I made the Matrix Matching Test of intelligence. My idea is that wherever possible psychological tests should be made universal, free of language and things that tie them to a particular culture. And they should be easily accessible and free to use. The philosophy is similar to the 'open-source' or 'free software' concepts in computing, that we develop things and then give it away for the common good.
