What is it about?
Although many schools claim to be engaging in Professional Learning Communities (PLC's), we find that much of the practices are better described as "PLC Lite" - and that is a prescription for frustration. The article provides explicit guidelines for deep and effective implementation of Professional Learning Communities.

Although Professional Learning Communities have great potential to improve faculty collaboration and student achievement, many implementations of PLC's are failing because the use of the label - PLC's - supplants the actual practices necessary for PLC's.
