What is it about?

Ferromagnetic detection, also known as magnetic anomaly detection, is different to conventional metal detection. We have shown that it is very effective at finding small ferrous metal items concealed on the body.

Why is it important?

Our findings show that ferromagnetic detection is more effective than conventional detection at identifying small concealed ferrous metal items

Perspectives

Whilst no metal detecting technology is perfect , ferromagnetic detection appears effective at detecting small concealed ferrous metal items. Adoption of this technology may improve safety by detecting such items before they can cause harm.
