Why is it important?

Palestinian middle class since WWI and before 1948 has not been studied in depth yet. It is a highly important subject, first and foremost to the study of Palestinian social history in this period, and nonetheless understanding the predicament of the Palestinian national movement at this time.

Perspectives

This publication is among my favorites, as a study in social history by methods of micro-history, or "history from below", that at the same time does not neglect the broader implications for Palestinian society, and even national movement.
