What is it about?

Often it is necessary to improve a mechanical property of a transparent polymer. When this is the case, it is crucial to ensure that the filler selected will allow for a transparent final product. This work investigated what is required to maintain that transparency in a compounded product.

Why is it important?

This work is important because it gives a way to determine the transparency results of a compound based on inexpensive, small-scale laboratory tests.

Perspectives

This work was the starting point of an investigation that scaled to twin screw compounded polymer-filler systems. It was exciting to see this work apply to various polymer-filler systems.
