What is it about?

The article illuminates the dynamics of bilateral cross-border cooperation between two vastly different partners. We present the findings of a case study on bilateral Finnish–Russian crime prevention cooperation. Currently, both the differences in national legislations and the fast-changing administrative environment make this cooperation challenging. Bilateral cooperation is currently the dominant form of cooperation between EU member states and Russia.

Why is it important?

In the future, European law enforcement agencies will attempt to work as a more unified system in their cooperation with Russia. This requires more attention to legal and administrative differences and Russia´s security policy implementation.

Perspectives

This article will give you a window to Russian law enforcement work and changes in the Russian security administration. We also introduce some key elements of Russian criminal prosedure in a comparative manner.
