Why is it important?
As epidemics of both known and emerging diseases continue to arise unpredictably, skilled health care resources need to be available on short notice. The Cuban medical cooperation teams is one source with both the commitment and expertise to provide that assistance.
Perspectives
It is not well known that Cuban medical teams are involved in over 50 nations around the world, providing direct services to countries in great need of assistance. The Cuban teams work in solidarity with local health systems, contributing immensely to strengthening local capacity to provide the needed services.
