What is it about?

This paper discusses how we adapted an established safety tool from flight operations, Line Maintenance Operations Audit (LOSA), and introduced the tool to aviation maintenance as Maintenance Operations Safety Survey (MOSS).

Why is it important?

MOSS helps organisations to measure their everyday safety performance. Our findings show that maintainers are constantly influenced by organisational issues, much more than flight crew. Importantly, the findings highlight how well maintainers manage everyday threats and errors.
