Why is it important?
The global publishing industry is not simply based on merit, but fundamentally structured by inequalities that have been laid down historically. We all need to understand these structures if we are to function effectively as individuals, disciplines, and universities, and if we are to improve the global knowledge base through greater inclusion of ideas, theories and methodologies.
