What is it about?
Stakeholder literature argues that effective stakeholder dialogue is desirable for successful firm–stakeholder relationships. However, the ways stakeholders frame the situation may cause problems and affect the dialogue. Despite the focal firm’s good intentions to create participatory relationships, stakeholders may choose to oppose its plans.

Why is it important?
The study shows how the relationships between the focal firm and stakeholders involve many meanings and understandings. Thereby, the study highlights the role of language in stakeholder dialogue and in the management firm–stakeholder relationships.
Perspectives
Writing this article was a long and instructive process.
