What is it about?

Opioids are chemical substances related to chemicals found in the opium poppy plant, commonly used for pain relief.1 They mimic natural endorphins, and produce feelings of euphoria, and physical wellbeing. Opioid drugs can either be prescription based (eg. codeine) or illicit (eg. heroin). Due to their highly addictive properties, opioids are commonly misused and have frequently led to dire consequences including dependence, overdose and death

Why is it important?

Further action should revolve primarily around public education through the media, to inform the public about the true contents of Kamini tablets and the strong link to addiction, dependence and overdose. Hopefully through these actions, Kamini tablets will be discontinued and unable to cause further harm to the public.
