What is it about?

We measure the amount of heat generated upon absorption of light in the visible range of the spectrum. The spectrum is different from the one obtained in regular transmission spectroscopy which measures all losses that occur during propagation through the sample. Combining both spectra we measure the scattering properties of the nanoparticles.

Why is it important?

The method represents a practical way to estimate the absorption and scattering efficiency of nanoparticles and other complex samples.

Perspectives

Develop a new kind of spectroscopy and spectrophotometers to understand the properties of samples which exhibit a complex behavior upon interaction with light
