What is it about?
After total laryngectomy, the most crucial step is pharyngeal repair. It is a tedious time-consuming but critical step in this surgery. Classically the pharynx is sutured in three layers. However, the introduction of mechanical staplers has simplified the procedure, reduced operative time with similar or even better results and less complications

Why is it important?
More widespread adoption of this technique can diminish operative time for those mostly high-risk patients, achieve consistent results and minimize morbidity.
Perspectives
This work consolidates my personal feeling and practice. It allows other surgeons to adopt this technique in their daily practice as well.
