What is it about?

The US economy has been recovering from the worst economic recession since the Great Depression. However, the recovery has progressed without generating sufficient jobs to return to pre-recession levels. How can we explain this “jobless” recovery? The findings of this paper suggest that one important reason is the growing prevalence of massive workforce downsizing among major US firms and the changed way in which firms implement downsizing.
