What is it about?
The aim of this article is to make an introductory contribution to studying how the threat of terrorism affects people’s mental construction of their everyday world and the way they behave. This is done through a qualitative, focus group-based study of how those living in Beirut, Lebanon, experienced the wave of terror that engulfed parts of the city and its suburbs in 2005.

Although the psychological stress created by terror has been extensively researched, little has been written about the subjective experience of living with terror. How do people perceive risk and how do they adjust their daily lives?
