What is it about?

In hospital mortality in patients with STEMI after Japan earthquake disaster with massive tsunami was evaluated in this article. The rate of PCI decreased and in-hospital mortality increased immediately after the Japan earthquake disaster in the Tsunami-stricken area. Disorder in hospitals and in the distribution system after the Japan earthquake disaster impacted the clinical care and outcome of STEMI patients.

Why is it important?

Our findings suggest that decreased prevalence of PCI caused by failure of electric power supply, lack of PCI device and destroyed transportation system was associated with increased in-hospital mortality.
