What is it about?

A Personal Reflection story about spending time in an Irish pub called the Afterbeat ( a jazz term denoting the space, the pause between musical notes). Some colleagues and I have just received our "Fellow" certificates for The College Of Chaplains (now The Association of Professional Chaplains). I had had a tough week prior dealing with deaths in the hospital where I served as chaplain. They convinced me I needed to take time to unwind, celebrate.

Why is it important?

The story makes the point of how important it is to find ways to cope with the stress of pastoral care situations. Often better done making music in fellowship with others.

Perspectives

I,like so many others in pastoral care, am good at ministering to those in need but often neglectful of my own spiritual and emotional needs.
