Why is it important?
There is a clear tendency that European authors in the extended field of educational sciences increase their publications in journals with an international audience. If they also publish in English the rate of citations by authors from foreign countries is significantly higher than by publishing in local languages. Number of authors per publication and number of transnational co-authorships increases.
Perspectives
The extent by which different subdisciplines of education take part in this process of internationalization is unequal, but exact data about hese differences need more detailed instruments to analyze the sub-disciplinary background of publications.
