What is it about?
The goal of our study was to examine how the accumulation of precarious job features predicts receipt of a disability pension in an eight-year follow-up period. Poor employability prospects in particular predict receiving a disability pension.

Why is it important?
If an individual feels he/she has poor chances of finding a new job in the open labour market, this anxiety may be a potential stressor impairing health and work ability.
Perspectives
It was interesting to see how our results were in line with the theoretical debate on precarity, which underscores the importance of the individual’s experiences and awareness of risks. Precarity cannot straightforwardly be reduced to a certain risk that has materialised, since the individual’s subjective experiences and fear of the future may be a more relevant factor.
