What is it about?

Although particle dampers can operate in environments that are too harsh for other methods, some points remain to be examined regarding their practical use. This paper presents the results of experimental studies of their noise characteristics and two computational methods for conducting large-scale simulations.

Why is it important?

Two significant findings are that: a) the sound pressure level generated by particle damping decreases with decreasing particle size and b) the two proposed computational methods make it possible to significantly reduce the calculation time and memory usage.

Perspectives

We think that the computational methods proposed in this study are very useful in conducting large-scale simulations.
