Why is it important?
“Thesis poetry”could promote understanding and empathy between scientists and the lay public, and foster and improve scientific literacy.
Perspectives
In ecology and other multidisciplinary fields, it is common to combine field surveys with laboratory and field experiments in synthesizing hypotheses. A single thesis poem might therefore summarize several papers. I hope that it becomes possible to use thesis poetry to convey science in the cultural and traditional aesthetic famil- iar to the public in each culture.
