Why is it important?
Ghana is a multilingual country with over 80 different languages. However, English is the official language and use across several language domains including in hospitals. Because of language barriers and other communication challenges, this paper argues for the need to re-examine the language policy of Ghana, especially regarding how multilingualism affects care access in hospitals.
Perspectives
This is an interesting paper for healthcare professionals, researchers, policymakers, and administrators. By reading it, some insights can be gained regarding the impact of multilingualism on patient-provider interactions and care access in Ghanaian hospitals.
