Why is it important?
As a practice profession, it is important for social work to make certain our premises and interventions are still valid. Beginning with the publication of Elisabeth Kubler-Ross’s book “On Death and Dying” 50 years ago, the role and importance of the social work profession since then and the importance of the legacy of social work pioneers are documented.
Perspectives
As young social workers, my co-author and I were influenced by the work of Elisabeth Kubler-Ross. We felt it was important to document not only Kubler-Ross’s role in our chosen profession of social work, but to highlight how our profession has built on and expanded excellent end-of-life care.
