What is it about?

This article examines responses to Kick It Out's campaign film to combat antisemitism in English football, which was euphemistically called 'The Y-Word' in reference to the slang Jewish epithet 'Yid'. As such, the paper explains the various ways in which this taboo word is used within the context of football. While it is used an a racial insult by some football fans, it has also been adopted as a badge of honour by fans of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club.
