We report on research into how a bespoke photographic exhibition can raise the profile of sustainability in academic teaching.

Why is it important?

The experience of the last few decades indicates that simply presenting the facts about environmental issues doesn't persuade the majority of students or lecturers about their importance or urgency. Images hold out the possibility of eliciting an emotional as well as a cognitive response but tend to have been overlooked in favour of words. Our article draws attention to this.
