What is it about?

Surveying incidence rates in rare chronic diseases such as SLE usually requires time-consuming and costly follow-up studies. We use a new statistical method to estimate incidence from cross-sectional data (prevalence).

The causes of SLE are not fully understood. To find possible causes and risk factors, regional differences can give important hints. Thus, data from populations from all around the world need to be compared.
