This is an analysis of the various skin features of systemic lupus erythematosus in a cohort of mainly black South Africans.
Perspectives
It is the first study that focuses specifically on skin features of lupus in South Africans and the relationship to internal organ involvement. The study also highlights the importance of diffuse melanonychia is a fairly distinctive feature of lupus in people of African extraction
