What is it about?
Dog-assisted therapy is a promising non-pharmacological therapy for dementia. We have shown that dog-assisted therapy sessions led to an increase in social behaviors and emotional manifestations with heightened pleasure compared with equivalent therapy sessions without the dog.

Why is it important?
Our results show that dog-assisted therapy is an intervention with great potential for positively impacting the quality of life of PwD, as it fosters socialization and communication, and has a positive influence on emotional state.
