What is it about?
This study presents a practical approach to breastfeeding in twins in a population served in São Paulo, Brazil. We verified (a) the main maternal, neonatal, and obstetric factors and (b) the factors related to the breastfeeding process that influence weaning in twin infants during the first 180 days, as well as (c) the reasons for weaning cited by mothers of twins.

Why is it important?
This is the first study that specifically evaluate breastfeeding of twins in Brazil and that evaluate the factors that influence breastfeeding cessation in mothers of twins.
Perspectives
Knowledge of these factors can be used to educate and support mothers of twins with the goal of improving breastfeeding in Brazil and other countries.
