What is it about?

Association of Dopamine β-hydroxylase genetic variants with cognition and Tardive dyskinesia in Schizophrenia subjects.

Why is it important?

Inter individual genetic variant profile differences in Dopamine β-hydroxylase may contribute to the propensity or severity of Tardive dyskinesia and cognitive symptoms in Schizophrenia subjects. Knowing the variant profile may help to tailor inhibitors according to the variant profile of the individual leading to personalized medicine.

Perspectives

This may draw attention of groups working on psychiatric diseases and who could attempt to replicate the findings that could help ameliorating side effects of anti psychotics.
