What is it about?

This is a clinical trial to compare the potency of decongestants when delivered using the nasal nebuliser against the conventional nasal spray

Why is it important?

This study suggests that while nasal sprays are convenient in the delivery of nasal decongestants prior to an endoscopic procedure, decongestants when delivered using the nasal nebuliser had superior decongestive potency compared to nasal sprays. This finding has the potential to encourage further research and development of nasal nebulisers for the delivery of medication into the nasal cavity. Furthermore, delivery of nasal decongestants using the nasal nebuliser could also allow otolaryngologists to perform minor nasal surgeries in an out-patient setting with better intra-operative and post-operative comfort.

Perspectives

We (Authors) had found that the findings obtained in this clinical trial could potentially pave the way for the usage of the nasal nebuliser in clinical practice. We hope that our findings would be of interest to clinicians and researchers and to provide them with an alternative device for nasal drug delivery.
