What is it about?
It is argued that a realistic view on parliamentary politics, as advocated by the politics of dissensus is consistent with political liberalism, the normative political philosophy developed mainly by John Rawls

Why is it important?
Political liberalism is often assumed to be a consensus-theory about basic politics. This impression is sought corrected in this study. A consequence is that the politics of dissensus and political liberalism enlighten each other.
Perspectives
The aim is to contribute to a cooperation between apparently conflicting approaches toward politics, and thereby enlarging our understanding of this complex phenomenon.
