What is it about?

This paper developed a valid and reliable self-report measure of gullibility. Also, we tested to see what other factors could influence how trustworthy and persuasive people perceive scam emails to be.

Why is it important?

This research is important research as billions of dollars are lost each year to scammers. Over and above the monetary loss, scam victims can be left with psychological and emotional trauma. Therefore, it is important to determine why some people are more vulnerable than others to being scammed.
